There are good bakeries in every town in Greece, and O Fotis is one of Aegina's best. There's a great choice of delicious breads - wholemeal, sourdough, sesame, raisin, soft white - and a lovely array of cookies, griffin and cakes, as well as savory pies filled with spinach, ham or cheese. The tsoureki - a sweet bread similar to French brioche - is outstanding. Drinks are sold too, so it's a useful place to buy a picnic or a mid-morning snack. The shop is at the southern end of town, near the Fylakés (the old jail and orphanage). - Alex Martin
