Davelis Cave on Pendeli Mountain

A mysterious attraction located in Penteli, the Davelis Cave is known to be the hide-out spot of the country's infamous outlaw, Davelis. The cave is home to a Byzantine church and is also known to be used for the worship of an old God, Panas. Several unusual occurrences have been reported by those who have visited this cave, including sightings of unusual human forms and eerie sounds. Visitors are usually apprehensive of visiting this cave, and even those who had their curiosity get the better of them, reported feeling highly uncomfortable inside this cave. Located in Pendeli Mountain, this cave is surely above the usual and ordinary.

Yanni Souvatzoglou

Yanni has enjoyed critical acclaim and enormous success with his sculpture collections and paintings that are grounded in Athenian and Cycladic cultures. His gallery, although often closed, is a beautiful look into a truly gifted artist who has utilized various mediums to get his artistic point of view across. He works with bronze, glass, marble and a few other materials to create his work. Make sure to call ahead for gallery hours.

Dromeas

Dromeas is an intriguing public art in the heart of Athens. This interesting piece of work is by Greek sculptor, Costas Varotsos. Unveiled in 1994, this giant sculpture made of dark green plate glass stands tall at 12 meters (30 feet). Also known as The Runner, the figure creates an illusion of speed and movement. It is an ode to the ancient runners and is set at starting point of the first marathon route.

Society for the Education of Young Women

Since 1872, The Society for the Education of Young Women has stuck to their core mission of helping uneducated women find a skill and purpose in life. The foundation teaches the art of embroidery, both ancient forms and more contemporary designs. Luckily, the workshop is open to the public in the mornings so people can get a glimpse of these talented and hard working women. The beautiful embroidery pieces are also extremely reasonably priced considering the time and effort that goes into each piece.

Yannis Mitrakas

Yannis Mitrakas, the official painter to the patriarchate, is quickly becoming something of a local artistic hero and is gathering praise from around the world for his religious art. Yannis' art carries a larger message that attracts people from different backgrounds and faiths. But you must plan ahead because this gallery is open by appointment only.
