Built in 1712, Pollards Mill is a plantation house located amongst the sugar cane fields of the eastern parish of St. Philip. Although much of the sugar plantation has now been sold, the house itself is surrounded by two and a half acres of landscaped gardens and lawns. The estate is the perfect spot for your tropical garden wedding. The folks at Pollards Mill will assist you in every way for your wedding and honeymoon. There is even a special honeymoon apartment on property, complete with swimming pool. Pollards Mill also caters to corporate events and can accommodate up to 500 people in tented facilities. A Georgian sugar cane plantation house with a sweeping staircase, beautiful pine floors and shuttered sash windows to withstand hurricanes, Golden Grove Great House is located in the parish of St. Philip. It is next door to Bayley’s Plantation, which was the site of a slave rebellion in 1816. The house is the birthplace of late pioneering Barbadian politician and philanthropist, Florence Evelyn Daysh. This historic home is now available for rental for vacations, private functions, corporate events, fashion shows, photo shoots and weddings. Surrounded by tropical gardens, Golden Grove Great House is near the secluded tranquil beaches at Bottom Bay and Ragged Point. Solidarity House is the headquarters of the Barbados Workers’ Union and is located on the outskirts of the capital, Bridgetown. The Barbados Workers’ Union was established in 1941 and today is the representative body for thousands of workers on the island. The main conference room at Solidarity House is the Sir Hugh Springer Auditorium, named for late union leader and Governor-General of Barbados, Sir Hugh Springer. This air-conditioned auditorium seats 400 people and is often the venue for lectures, town hall meetings, conventions, graduations and concerts. There are also a number of smaller meeting rooms, a self-contained kitchen facility as well as extensive parking to accommodate various meetings. The Transformation Centre is the home of the New Dimensions Ministries, a non-denominational apostolic church in Barbados. It is located on Barbarees Hill, just a few minutes away from the capital, Bridgetown. While church services are held on several days during the week, the center’s auditorium is available for rental for other events. The center also has a number of smaller rooms which can be used for classrooms or small meetings. Crusades, conventions, drama presentations, movie presentations and educational activities have all taken place here.
