Hassan II Mosque

The Hassan II Mosque is one of the most popular attractions in Casablanca. The exquisite landmark was commissioned in 1986 by King Hassan II and completed in 1993. It was designed by French architect Michel Pinseau and required thousands of artists, craftsmen, and construction workers to complete. The mosque is known not only for its 210-meter (689-foot) minaret, the second tallest in the world, but also for modern features like its heated floor, sliding roof, and earthquake proof design. The largest mosque in Morocco, the Hassan II Mosque is open to individuals of all faiths, and it is an absolute must for any tourist.

Stade Mohammed V

The Mohamed V Stadium is located in the western part of the Maarif district. This large stadium is used primarily for soccer matches. It was inaugurated in 1955 and can seat up to 67,000 spectators. This stadium is home to the Morocco National Soccer Team as well as the Raja Casablanca, Wydad Casablanca, and Botola clubs. The stadium was originally named the Stade Marcel Cerdan, but in 1956 when Morocco gained independence, its name was changed.

Mahkama du Pacha

The Mahkama du Pacha or Pacha's Courthouse is a parliamentary building that houses the Court of Justice and also functions as a private reception area for governmental functions. Even though public access inside the building is not permitted, it is worth visiting for its notable architecture. The architectural style is distinctly Moorish. If you are able to gain access, inside you will be pleased to discover beautiful chiseled stucco and polychrome mosaics as well as statuesque columns and geometric designs.

Museum of Moroccan Judaism

This museum was founded by the Jewish community of Morocco in 1977. The collection features artifacts and works of art that reflect the history and traditions of Jews in Moroccan civilization with an emphasis on objects from everyday life. One large room is dedicated to plastic arts, photography and sculptures. There are also three other rooms filled with miscellaneous artifacts, a library and two rooms that have been designed to represent traditional Moroccan synagogues.

Cinema Rialto

This art deco cinema hall was constructed in 1930. It is a Casablanca landmark. Today, the Rialto functions as a one-screen movie theater, but even if you are there as a movie buff and not as an architecture buff, the beauty of this building cannot be overlooked. The subtle detailing is exquisite, so make sure to pay attention to the details. Inside these walls once stood a stage that hosted the likes of Edith Piaf and Josephine Baker. Clearly this theater has significantly contributed to the cultural history of this city. Hours depend on show times.

Villa des Arts

Near the Parc de la Ligue Arabe, this art gallery is located in a wonderfully restored and whitewashed 1934 art deco building. Outside, fountains accentuate the beauty of the environs, and inside, polished wood floors and gleaming walls complement the spectacular artwork adorning the interior. The artworks represented here are unique and contemporary, that usually promotes local Moroccan artists and are temporary in nature. Those who aren't art aficionados can still appreciate the splendor of this villa, which also has a near-identical sister in Rabat, that also functions as an art gallery.
