Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

This is a permanent exhibition of the tragic events leading up to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza opened in 1989 and is located in the Dallas County Administration Building (initially named Texas School Book Depository), the site from where Lee Harvey Oswald allegedly shot the President. Displays include a moving overview of the time period and the life and accomplishments of the 35th President of the United States. Enlarged police photographs, news footage and audio tools allow visitors to learn about the tragic events of November 22, 1963.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

This museum, funded by the Perot family, explores both modern technology and natural history, from technical innovations at Texas Instruments to prehistoric Texan wildlife. Permanent exhibits include the Being Human Hall, the Lyda Hill Gems and Minerals Hall, the Tom Hunt Energy Hall and the T. Boone Pickens Life Then and Now Hall. The museum also includes a theater which features a rotating schedule of 3D documentaries. See their website for a list of theater show times and temporary exhibits. Be sure to stop and look at the Malawisaurus skeleton gracing the museum lobby.

Palace of Wax / Ripley's Believe It or Not

Enjoy seeing wax replicas of some of your favorite celebrities at this combined Wax/Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. The Ripley's Believe It or Not! portion of the museum holds such unusual wonders as a seven-foot Leaning Tower of Pisa. This site truly has something for every taste. There are movie scenes from Gone with the Wind and The Wizard of Oz and a beautiful exhibit on the Life of Christ. The horror section may make you jump. House sculptor Peter Carsillo is a former makeup artist who does a wonderful job creating the wax characters.

Trinity River Audubon Center

The Trinity River Audubon Center is your gateway into the vast and wondrous world of the Great Trinity Forest. The sprawling park is home to one of the country's largest hardwood forests in an urban setting, with lush grasslands and vibrant wetlands interspersed between the dense woods. Economy in Action

A fascinating exhibit at the Federal Reserve Bank, Economy in Action is a must-visit for hardcore economists, those want to learn more about the country’s past economic structure or simple spend a few hours browsing through interesting objects. See notes that value USD 55, 10,000 and even 12 shillings. There is also a collection of notes torn to bits, displayed via a 'cash bus'. However, the best part of the museum is how visitors get the chance to see the entire process from how money enters circulation to how it stays there. You can also learn more about how the Federal Reserve bank influences local and national economy as well as the impact of the latter on the bank itself.
