Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

Established in 1998, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia is an attractive blend of modern architecture and traditional Islamic design. This gleaming white structure stands imposingly just next to the National Mosque and behind the Malayan Railway administration building. Housed within the center is an impressive collection of Islamic art objects from Malaysia as well as other Islamic countries. There is also a library and research facility for public use. Also, enroll in one of their many educative programs to know the regional art and culture.

National Science Centre

Experience a scientific journey within this huge green dome-shaped building. The center features many exciting hands-on interactive science exhibits, which are divided into nine different galleries. The journey into this futuristic four-storey complex begins with a walk through an overhead tropical freshwater aquarium, followed by the Environmental Odyssey unravellings the threats faced by our tropical environment. Children will find delight in the Children's Exploration Center. Among other facilities are a multimedia library, auditoriums, a cafeteria and a Science Shop.

Thean Hou Buddhist Temple

Lanterns suspended from a tiered roof sway in the gentle shadow of the night, at this exquisite temple atop Robinson Heights. Constructed with six tiers and surrounded by ornate shrines that were built by a Malaysian-settled Hainanese community, the main temple of Thean Hou is a sight of splendor. Enshrined within the temple's main altar is the Chinese sea goddess Mazu, her gilded form appearing at the heart of the temple's complex. One among a trinity of deities enshrined within this temple complex, Mazu sits flanked by Hainan goddess Shui Wei Sheng Niang, also known as Goddess of the Waterfront, and Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. The temple features a bevy of admirable architectural elements, from the commanding main gate with vermilion pillars, to the temple's stunningly arched roofs that appear to fly. Fostering a synthesis of diverse spiritual beliefs, the Thean Hou Temple is among the city's most iconic religious monuments.

Petrosains

Located within the imposing Petronas Twin Towers building, Petrosains is a modern museum housing many exciting exhibits. Covering a total area of 100,000 square feet, this interactive science discovery center traces the development of petroleum science and technology. Among the interesting exhibits are hi-tech presentations of a singing dinosaur and a smoking volcano. The discovery journey through forest, ocean and sky, and the simulation helicopter flight in a tropical storm is just as thrilling and engaging. There are also live science demonstrations and a child play center.

Royal Malaysian Police Museum

This museum provides visitors a better understanding of the dynamic activities and operations of the police force. Located in what was formerly the Police Senior Officers' mess, the building is a diverse collection of artifacts, which numbers some 7,595 items. These exhibits cover various aspects of crime and crime prevention, ranging from secret societies to guns confiscated from Communist Terrorists, as well as photographs of the police force. It also holds the history and activities of the force dating back to the Malacca Sultanate in 1511.

Forestry Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) Museum

Located within a sprawling 600-hectare section of one of the world's oldest forest research centres, this museum is a showcase of the nation's rich forest heritage. Established in 1952, it houses a collection of different varieties of wood species found in the country, including indigenous fruit trees, conifers and monocotyledonous trees. You can also catch displays pertaining to tree usage and products made from wood. After visiting the museum, take a walk in the park and discover the wonders of the authentic tropical rainforest.
