Charol's is a spacious restaurant on the way to Aubagne (between Aubagne and Gémenos). It’s mostly meat and fish on the menu, but also duck, scallops and foie gras, which aids the restaurant in serving special ‘gourmet menus.’ In the summer, the terrace is a good place for lunch or dinner in a calm, quiet place. The staff is welcoming, as is the simply yet fancifully decorated interior. On Mondays, the gourmet menu is half price, otherwise it can be a bit on the expensive side. It is important to call ahead for reservations, because Charol’s is often full.

Right in the center of the village of Gémenos, the Fer à Cheval Restaurant combines simplicity and gastronomy. Set up in the former stables of a 17th-century castle, this fine dining restaurant has maintained a unique and rustic setting. This bistro in the heart of Saint Anne’s neighborhood in Marseille has a nice terrace to sit at, as soon as it's nice enough outside to do so, for lunch or to have a drink in the sun. The interior has a Moroccan style decoration on the second floor and a more Baroque Art Deco style on the first floor. There's something for every palate; the dishes are generous with full menu deals at lunchtime. On some evenings the Turf sets up theme nights (with a dress code): 1980s nights, tapas and birthday parties can be requested. The Turf’s ‘lounge’ look attracts a rather trendy crowd.

A few steps from the Palais Longchamp, in the neighborhood that climbs up and up, you’ll find Le Petit Longchamp. Halfway between the old neighborhood bistro and gourmet restaurant, this is a must-try spot to eat and drink. Le Petit Longchamp is part of the La Part des Anges "family" (very well known wine bar in Marseille). The setting includes red brick walls and menus presented on little chalkboards. The warm welcome contributes to the charming feeling of this place. The daily find at the market will determine what’s cooking – seasonal vegetables, fish and meat of the day. The perfect glass of wine will match and be enjoyed with the meal. Try the café gourmand – coffee with dessert pastries for a sweet blend of flavors – a real treat!
