A pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, this charming green park has sparkling fountains, shady trees and interesting sculptures such as 'Malgre Tout' and 'Despoire', by Jesús Contreras. The park also has a monument dedicated to Beethoven in commemoration of the centenary of the Ninth Symphony, which was donated by the German community. This recreation space for the local populace was created in 1592 and few city parks guard such hidden history in its landscape, such as being the former site of the Inquisition's burning of heretics. A typical Mexican Sunday can be enjoyed at the Alameda Central, which often has live music, along with markets and food stalls.

Centro Histórico or the Historic Center of the city of Toluca is a traditional neighborhood in this Mexican city which has retained its old-world flavor. Formerly a part of the Aztec Empire the neighborhood contains numerous historic structires, some which date as far back as the 18th century. The architecture here shows a strong French and Spanish influence, reminiscent of the colonial era. Some of the places which are worth visiting while here include the Toluca Cathedral, the City Hall and the Botanical Garden of Toluca.

The pre-Hispanic origins of this zoo date back to when the Aztec Nezahualcóyotl created this area for the population to enjoy the flora and fauna. It was meant not only for entertainment but also for medicinal, artistry, food provision and religious purposes. Today around 2,000 animals of some 260 species consider these 17 hectares (42 acres) their natural habitat. Different biospheres have been recreated to make these guests feel more at home. Temperate woods of conifer trees shield the bears, deer and wolves; there are pastures for herbivores and deserts of arid and semiarid regions for other creatures; the Arctic tundra for the polar bears and even a coastal shore for sea lions. This is also the home of the Russian pandas, which were the first to produce offspring in captivity.

The wee hours of the day or the night, there is a hustle and bustle in Plaza Garibaldi as bands play Mariechi music or perform gigs on the spot for the tourists seated on the cement benches scattered in the area. This is one of the most renowned place in the city that attracts several tourists all year round. The costumes, dresses and songs talk of the rich culture of Mexico. The vibrant colours of the age-old Salon Tenampa is welcoming. Grab a bite and a couple of drinks, sit back and listen to live Mariechi music being played. The Tenampa through its walls and little art work talks about the history and culture of the place.
