"African Wetland & Nature Reserve"
Part of the Tsavo Conservation Area, the Tsavo West National Park is divided from its eastern counterpart by the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway and a railway line that cuts between them. Featuring an alternating landscape that comprises savannas and semi-arid grasslands, the national park is surrounded by a number of swamps and other water bodies, such as the Tsavo river, Lake Jipe, and the Mzima Springs - rendering its landscape moister than its eastern sibling. Wildlife in the Tsavo West National Park is varied, with animals such as black rhinos, the Cape buffalo, Masai lion and the leopard roaming freely. The national park was also known to harbor at one time, the Late Stone Age economy, as per archaeological evidence discovered from near the Galana River.
