Built in 1909 as a sports arena, the Armory Track & Field Center was an active venue, until it was used as a shelter for the homeless around the year 1987. After the economic Depression, renovations have let the center regain its lost glory. Track and field events, championship matches, sports workshops for children are held regularly at this center. The center features an indoor track which was an addition to the arena after the renovations.
Having the capacity to hold over 15,000 spectators, Wien Stadium is mainly used for conducting football matches, apart from occasionally playing lacrosse. Also you can see regularly conducted athletic events. Home to Columbia University Lions, this stadium opened in 1984.
Being a home to Columbian Lions basketball team, this venue is one if the most popular venues in the city. Located at Columbian University in New York this place serves as a sports arena and a gymnasium for the students of the University. The Icahn Stadium was established in 2005 in the same spot as the earlier Downing Stadium. This multipurpose sports stadium is mainly known for its track and field events. The running track is high quality and certified by the International Association of Athletic Federations. The Adidas Grand Prix and IAAF Diamond League are some of the popular programs hosted here. The Olympic training and trials were also held at Icahn Stadium in 1936.
Coffey Field appears to have been a quaint football field transported out of a movie. Its green fields and steel bleachers allow for visitors to enjoy the outdoors while also enjoying the events on the field. There is also an adjacent baseball field within easy view of the bleachers.
This arena is named after Vincent dePaul Draddy, a voice for consistent outstanding achievement both in academics and athletics. Draddy was also once a scholar at Manhattan College and is listed in the College Football Hall of Fame. The Draddy Gymnasium itself can seat up to 2,500 people and has also been featured in The Cosby Show's first season.
The fact that Hunter College's athletic teams have tasted the kind of success they have is not surprising once one takes into consideration the kind of facilities they have at their disposal. The Main Gymnasium, which is located on the B3 level of the Sportsplex, is just one of these facilities. The site for events such as men's & women's basketball, volleyball & wrestling, it is the epicenter of the college's sporting activities. The renovation of this gymnasium has been done in keeping with the other efforts at sustainability made by the college.
