"Spectacular Natural Wonder"
It all began 12,000 years ago when a huge trench was carved out by a glacier and created Niagara Falls, which is truly a spectacular natural wonder. At the time, the falls were about 11 kilometers (seven miles) down river in the Lewiston-Queenston area. In their present position, the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side and the American Bridal Veil Falls are eroding at a fast rate. Together, they pour about 60,000 cubic meters (200,000 cubic feet) of water every second over the brink of the falls. Visitors have been flocking to this area to marvel at the mightiness of the falls for centuries. Come the winter holiday season, the falls are beguilingly decked out with a light show for the annual Winter Festival of Lights.

Witness the brilliance of nature's creations with a trip to the Niagara Falls, at the border of Canada and the United States. The three main waterfalls - the American Falls, the Bridal Veil Falls and the Horseshoe Falls - all lie on the mighty River Niagara. The Horseshoe Falls is the largest among the three, with 90% of the river feeding it. It is interestingly named so because of its horseshoe-like shape. The waterfalls are a popular tourist attraction and also a major source of hydroelectricity. Straddling the border between Canada and the United States, the majority of the Horseshoe Falls lies in Canada, however, its boundaries are contested. The Niagara Parks Commission organizes tours and cruises that allow tourists to experience the grandeur of the waters.
