Green Valley lies in a tiny hill-station called Kufri which is a few kilometers east of Shimla. Most visitors to Shimla stop en route to Kufri at this scenic spot which allows for gorgeous views of the windswept Himalayas. This is where honeymooning couples alight their cars and get dressed in traditional Himachali costumes that can be rented from local photographers out to make a killing. This serves as a perfect souvenir of this romantic City of Hills. Also a great chance to feast on some roasted Indian corn with lime and butter! If you are lucky, you may also encounter the mammoth Himalayan wonder - The Yak.
Located in the east, Sanjauli is probably the biggest neighborhood of Shimla. Primarily located on the Circular Road, this area spreads far and wide in every possible direction. Sanjauli was developed owing to a rise in the need for affordable settlement options in and around the city. Primarily a residential area, numerous commercial establishments and offices abound this suburb. It is also home to one of the biggest and most popular Gurudwaras.
Located a little ahead of Dhalli, Mashobra is a small town near Shimla. Situated amidst beautiful mountains, the breath-taking Mashobra valley is a monumental memory that you can cherish all your life. Natural green crowned with layers of white cotton-like clouds in the midst of cold breeze is the best one can ever wish for. Numerous government and private establishments have their offices based in Mashobra. The Club Mahindra Whistling Pines Resort of Mashobra, popularly known as Hotel Gables, is among the most sought after accommodation facilities. Also, the Regional Horticultural Research Station (RHRS) is an important heritage and tourist attraction.
US Club was once a proper, functioning entity in Shimla. It mainly served as a recreation facility for the British where fun activities like parties and dances would take place. The Club building was also considered an architectural marvel and was a popular landmark on Jakhoo. However, the building does not exist anymore though the area is still referred to as US Club, making it an unofficial neighborhood. All that remains is an arch that then served as the entry gate for the US Club building.
Chharabra is a tiny hamlet that lies east of Shimla in the midst of pine and cedar forests and beautiful birds chirping from dawn to dusk. Densely forested and replete with catchment areas and reserves, the river Satluj flows through a part of this village. Strawberries, apples, wild berries and cherries are found in plenty so are jackals, barking deer, exotic eagles, leopards and pheasants. The All India Women's Conference (AIWC) is a worldwide organization that works towards the welfare and empowerment of women and children. The Shimla Branch of AIWC is located at the Ladies Park. It located at the rare end of the park. Local women and girls can avail coaching for activities like stitching and knitting which are provided here. This helps them gain independence by earning their own source of income. Socio-cultural discussions as well as awareness workshops are also conducted here.
