Located in the Altstadt district of Zurich, the Münsterhof town square is a beautiful, idyllic place and home to some of the finest historical buildings in the city. It is the largest square found within the medieval walls and is surrounded by the Fraumünster church, the Zunfthaus zur Meisen and various famous restaurants and cafes. Every three years, a medieval fun fair is organized here by the Fraumünster society.
Neumarkt Oerlikon is a scenic square that teems with activity and attracts hoards of tourists to come shop at its portals. Dazzling one and all with a delightful array of shops and eateries, it is one of the most-visited plazas of the city. It is,also, home to the Saturday Oerlikon Market. When you enter the marketplace, the smells of fresh flowers, fine cheeses and fresh vegetables comes to your nostrils. Behold a splendour of colours; here is where the farmers from around Zurich sell their wares. A must-visit on your next trip to the city.
In good weather visitors to the bridge enjoy a wonderful view: behind Lake Zürich rise the Glamer Alps and down along the lake Zürich Old Town shows itself to advantage. The original Quaibrücke was erected together with the Uto, Seefeld and General Guisan quays to plans of the town planner, Arnold Bürkli. It was opened in 1887. About 100 years later the bridge was replaced by a new construction.
