"19th-Century Historic District"
Part of Albany get revitalization process, the district of Pastures is one of the city's great neighborhoods that lies just south of Pearl Street; it is so named as site of the 17th-century pastures that once filled this part of the original Dutch settlement. Over the years, it has been home to the city's red light district and numerous jazz clubs. These lovely 19th-century Federal-style homes have been restored and the area put on the National Register of Historic Places. While the area is highly residential, there are still several places to grab a bite, like Simply Fish & Jazz, catch a round of tennis or bring the kids to the playground.
