"Canal- lined Villa"
Iepenrode is a villa located between the beautiful canal Leidse trekvaart and Herenweg in Heemstede. It used to be the summer house of the mayors of Haarlem. During the Middle Ages, the property had two buildings called “Achterkoekoek” and “Voorkoekoek. " It was rebuilt in 1652 to form a stately manor or the “heerschapswoninge” by another owner, Cornelis Ormea. The house that exists now was erected in 1733 by Francois Aernout Druyvestein and has a French- style garden, designed by Ambraham Dedel.
