Shirley Heights Lookout

Shirley Heights was named after British colonial governor Sir Thomas Shirley who was known as the man responsible for fortifying English Harbour in the late 1700s. Up on a hillside overlooking the harbor, the Shirley Heights Lookout is a popular picturesque stopover for visitors. Some come to see the massive fortifications on the hill, others to take in the views, and still others to party at The Lookout Restaurant on the hill. Thursdays and Sundays are particularly festive as there are often steel-pan bands to contribute the atmosphere. Come at a quiet hour for undisturbed vistas or join in the lively island spirit. Either way, you won't want to miss the Shirley Heights Lookout.

Coconut Grove

Located by the beach, Coconut Grove is one of the best spots in the city serving flavorsome seafood delicacies in a laid back outdoor seating arrangement. One can opt for delicacies like Gourmet CG Salad, Butterfly Garlic Shrimps, Bounty Seafood Pasta and much more. The food here is cooked daily using the finest of the local ingredients and is always served hot. The food can be enjoyed with a drink from their extensive collection. The place is perfectly suitable for a memorable beach side meal. Come by during their happy hours and get incredible deals on drinks. Open 7 days a week, Coconut Grove also organizes various private events.

The Galley Bar & Restaurant

For the past fifteen years, this delightful bar and restaurant has attracted old salts and new tourists with it's setting and ambiance. From about noon onwards, you'll catch any number of local yachtsmen bending an elbow here, almost as they do in the English pubs. Set on a perfect spot at the water's edge, it is surrounded by tropical foliage— the building is one of the original stone structures from the British Royal Navy's heyday in the Dockyard. About eight wooden tables are angled for perfect harbor views to create an intimate dining spot. There are always several good local beers and imports, a few basic wines and ingredients for any spirited tropical drink. The menu changes often and even includes sandwiches and burgers at times.

Abracadabra

Come to this hotspot for excellent Italian fare in a chic but laidback ambiance. You can enjoy lunch in the quaint cafe area adjacent to the main dining room or try out the dinner menu, which pays homage to the cuisines of Southern Italy and Sardinia. You can even get fresh-baked pizza after midnight when Abracadabra turns into a lively disco. Transition from dinner to dancing with a limoncello cocktail after your meal. There is no strict dress code at Abracadabra though the restaurant requests that its patrons come dressed ready for a casual yet nice evening.

Hemingways Caribbean Cafe

Walk up the wooden stairs at the entrance to this charming restaurant and you'll discover a spot worth visiting several times. The popular hangout serves both lunch and dinner, creating a fun atmosphere during the day and a more intimate ambiance in the evening. Hemingways Caribbean Cafe offers standard fare like soups, salads, and sandwiches, as well as local dishes prepared with an expert touch. The dinner menu includes such delicacies as Antiguan lobster flambé and roasted jerk pork tenderloin. There is also plenty of standard American fare for the picky eaters in the group. Perhaps the biggest draw at Hemingways Caribbean Cafe is the veranda overlooking Heritage Quay, just half a block from the harbor. Make sure to check out the view when you visit.

The Lobster Pot

Looking for a beautiful place for fine dining by the sea? Lobster Pot is perfect for business dinners and celebrations with special friends. The chef turns out continental dishes with flair. The ambiance is elegant, tropical and semi-casual. Along with the specialty lobster, try the chef's wonderful puff pastries. The bar serves fantastic tropical drinks and offers an excellent wine selection. There is live music some evenings and dancing is encouraged.
