"Malfeasant History"
Architecturally unusual amongst the many ruins of churches in Antigua, the Iglesia Santa Teresa is the church connected to the Carcel de Hombres, the structure which until recently held Antigua's town jail. Predictably, this required much thicker walls than are typical for colonial churches. Many of the architectural elements echo the structure of the Catedral de Santiago, with the main entrance facing west, Ionic columns gracing the upper façade, and comparable carvings and details in the niches.
