Fonda de la Calle Real

The bright, fresh-air dining room of La Fonda de la Calle Real is an exceptionally inviting sight, with its warm colors, flowers in the center of each table, and uncrowded artesania suspended from the walls. The restaurant has been in business since 1975, and now has three locations - the owners clearly know how to compose an invitation. The menu offers an array of breakfasts, stews, appetizers, roasted meats, seafood, and vegetarian dishes, and takes the culinary exploration one step further. Typical cuisine is offered not just on a national scale, but also according to specific towns : Estofado de Cordero hails from Tecpán, Suban-iq from San Martín Jilotepeque, and Gallina Criolla from San Marcos.
