Situated on the southern end of the mountain range of Harz, Bad Sachsa was declared a health resort town in the early 20th century. This quaint little town is home to the scenic Ravensberg Mountain which features trails and ski resort which are frequented by hikers and winter sports enthusiasts. Some of the other local attractions are the centuries-old St. Nikolai Church, the ruins of Sachsenburg and the 250-million years old Römerstein Rocks.
