Metis is a modernist 200-seat fine dining establishment featuring a private cellar, patisserie and lounge. It offers a high-class inventive menu of classic French and Mediterranean dishes. There are lunch and dinner set menus and a la carte selections which include Pacific coral trout, ricotta agnolotti and succulent roasted lamb. All are presented artfully, and the service is exquisite but not too fussy. A large dessert list features temptations galore, and if that's not enough, Metis boasts what may be Bali's most extensive fine wine selection. Come here for a fabulous fine dining experience that doesn't come cheap, but is well worth a one time splurge.

Situated just a short walk from the center of town, Bridges Bali occupies a rural spot overlooking a dramatic river gorge in the famous artists' village of Campuhan. This is fine dining par excellence with top quality food perfectly complementing the inspiring scenery. The menu covers a multitude of sinful delights such as lobster, succulent grilled steaks, pasta and Mediterranean tapas and mezze combos. There is an excellent wine selection; Bridges Bali actually has its very own fully stocked retail wine shop. Dining takes place out on the picturesque river view terrace or indoors in a private dining room complete with lounge and wine bar. The views are delightful and make for a quintessential romantic atmosphere after dark. One of the original eateries in Ubud, this three-story, cozy restaurant has the Ayung River at its feet. Be sure to go down to the lowest level to see the view. Sample the tasty special grill dishes and the thick and delicious juices and lassies (blended yogurt). Beer and local wines are served as well and there is no corkage charge. A small shop of high-quality crafts and jewelry is on the top floor.
