Cascades Restaurant

Boasting a tranquil, romantic setting with views overlooking lush valleys and water, this renowned fine dining establishment offers gourmet, high quality, nouvelle French cuisine with an Asian twist, influenced by the best in Japanese, Thai, and Balinese ingredients. Unique dishes available here include beef fillet Rossini, duck Foie Gras, roasted black sea bass, and baby lobster, presented with aplomb and style along with the most attentive of personal service. In house functions and receptions are a specialty with tailor made individual menus to suit and the restaurant even boasts its own helipad for high fliers.

Métis

From the founders of the pioneering Kare Warisan comes this new dining concept in Seminyak which has caused quite a stir. Metis is a modernist 200-seat fine dining establishment featuring a private cellar, patisserie and lounge. It offers a high-class inventive menu of classic French and Mediterranean dishes. There are lunch and dinner set menus and a la carte selections which include Pacific coral trout, ricotta agnolotti and succulent roasted lamb. All are presented artfully, and the service is exquisite but not too fussy. A large dessert list features temptations galore, and if that's not enough, Metis boasts what may be Bali's most extensive fine wine selection. Come here for a fabulous fine dining experience that doesn't come cheap, but is well worth a one time splurge.

Bridges Bali

Situated just a short walk from the center of town, Bridges Bali occupies a rural spot overlooking a dramatic river gorge in the famous artists' village of Campuhan. This is fine dining par excellence with top quality food perfectly complementing the inspiring scenery. The menu covers a multitude of sinful delights such as lobster, succulent grilled steaks, pasta and Mediterranean tapas and mezze combos. There is an excellent wine selection; Bridges Bali actually has its very own fully stocked retail wine shop. Dining takes place out on the picturesque river view terrace or indoors in a private dining room complete with lounge and wine bar. The views are delightful and make for a quintessential romantic atmosphere after dark. Bridges Bali is certainly not cheap, but the food and service is first class and worthy of a one time splurge. -Raymond Montgomery

KU DE TA

Located next to the Oberoi, this beachfront location features modern architecture and interior design. Lounge in a deck chair on the beach and enjoy a cocktail while watching the sun go down. Murni's Warung

Run by an American-Balinese couple, one can get authentic apple pie as well as chicken satay here. One of the original eateries in Ubud, this three-story, cozy restaurant has the Ayung River at its feet. Be sure to go down to the lowest level to see the view.
