Located just minutes away from Camden Yards, if you are looking for wine instead of beer before the game, then Corner Bistro has your poison. It's actually located in the quaint neighborhood named Ridgely's Delight and since the restaurant's entrance does not look very different from the residential homes that flank it, visitors oftentimes walk right past it. Inside, the space has intimate tables, dim lighting and a menu that highlights local Baltimore favorites like crab cakes or chowder. The bistro is known for its sandwiches, try the Baltimorean, it consists of two giant crab cakes stuffed between some crusty bread, then topped with lettuce, tomato and a lemon-herb tartar. It is excellent, all you need is the right white wine from Spain, Portugal or California to enhance your meal.
There are so many things to do and places to see in Federal Hill, from dancing to dining, there is a locale for everyone. If you want to taste some tapas and sit with friends around a hookah, then Zeeba Lounge is the spot. The menu features soups, salads and Mediterranean 'Mahzeh' like hummus, dolma, curried meatballs and Spanikopita. The beverage selection includes teas, Zeeba's signature sour cherry cocktail and some potent Turkish coffee. Additionally, you can bring your own beverage for a nominal corkage fee.
Pub Dog has two of everyone's favorites on the menu, beer and pizza. Here in Baltimore, this pizza place is known for its signature pizzas which include options like the Cajun Dog, the Cheese Dog, the Atomic Dog as well as the 'Original' Wing Dog. The selection of beers includes lots of styles from their own brewer, like IPAs, Stouts, English-style Brown, etc. and if you want to see where Pub Dog brews its beers, you can visit the brewery in nearby Westminster.
The Outpost American Tavern is a typical American neighborhood restaurant and pub that makes an ideal place to enjoy a typical American meal along with a few drinks. Their food menu is simple and features burgers, sandwiches, roasted chicken, pastas and salads along with delicious entrees. Meals can be accompanied with craft cocktails, local beer on taps or from a fine selection of international wines. Besides serving regular meals and drinks all day, on weekends they serve brunch. Happy hours can be enjoyed during weekdays.
At Magerk's Pub, visitors can eat signature cheesesteaks and quaff a few beers while watching the game. Like many other bars in the area, this one is unpretentious, low-key and usually filled with locals. In addition to cheesesteaks, the menu offers burgers, sandwiches, salads and even a small sushi menu. The bar provides cocktails, domestic beers as well as a few local ones and if you can't make it here, there are other Magerk's in Horsham, Bel Air and Fort Washington.
The Baltimore neighborhood of Federal Hill has a glut of bars, but if you are looking for an exclusive selection of beers, then Ropewalk is probably the best place to visit. With more than 150 different beers to choose from, trying to find one is absolutely mind-boggling. Thankfully, the helpful staff is knowledgeable and instructive while you peruse the menu. From the kitchen, the selections highlight the lauded Maryland Crab, from cakes to Po' Boy sandwiches, it doesn't scream Baltimore any more than this.
