"A Wondrous Sight"

La Carbonería, that was utilized as an Okupa house, represents an important phase of the history of Barcelona. It lays emphasis on the struggle of the Okupas who were unable to find a home due to economic difficulties and as a result, they occupied abandoned buildings to protest against this injustice. The building is covered in overwhelming graffitis, with a massive tree and a hot air balloon being the prominent ones, and makes for a wonderful sight. It is one of the most photographed spots in the city and you will often see locals and tourists visiting to view the artistic masterpiece.
