Garfagnana

The wild and romantic mountain landscape in the province of Lucca offers an out-of-the-ordinary natural experience. The region has the most precipitation of any area in Italy and accordingly is the most heavily forested. Italian chestnuts, oaks, stone pines and many other species grow here. Fans of this area admire not only its luxuriant green vegetation, but also the Grotta del Vento, or Cave of the Wind, Tuscany's largest stalactite cavern.
