"Everyday Life in the Past"
In this wonderful house, built between 1775 and 1780 and originally owned by a family of silk ribbon makers, you can immerse yourself in the domestic history of Basel. This has been one of the four houses belonging to the Historical Museum since 1951. The local domestic culture of the 18th and 19th Centuries is on display in 30 rooms on both floors. The past is so alive that it seems like the owners will will return and continue their everyday lives. The collection of clocks and porcelain are excellent, as are the toys.
