The Grand Canal

Considered as one of the earliest civil-engineering marvels of the world, The Grand Canal is China's pride. The canal is over 1500 kilometers (930 feet) long and stretches from Beijing to Hangzhou. Its construction is believed to have begun in the 3rd Century and since then it is used to facilitate trade in China. The Grand Canal is world's largest man-made water body which is why it is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has garnered praises from many international luminaries and has been instrumental in boosting China's economy for ages. The Great Wall of China is an admired wonder but the The Grand Canal of the country deserves equal adulation.
