"Above River Lagan"
One of Belfast's eight bridges, Albert Bridge was built to the designs of Belfast's Borough Surveyor, Mr J.C. Bretland. Its construction was undertaken by Messrs Henry in the year 1890. It is christened after Prince Albert Victor, Queen Victoria's grandson who presided over its groundbreaking in the year 1889. Ornate lampposts and cast iron fittings adorning Albert Bridge were manufactured in Derby. Three horizontal arches of the bridge cover the length of the beautiful River Lagan.
