The Grand Opera House is one of the city's great signature buildings. Restored to its Victorian glory in 1980, it is a masterpiece in gilt and plush scarlet. The Ulster Hall dates back to 1862 and lies in the heart of the city. The interesting yellow-bricked balcony and wrought ironwork add to the building's attractions. An old converted Victorian school plays host to the arts in Belfast. The center presents workshops across a vast spectrum of performing arts, from drama to dance. Various events like Shag Student night and a typical loud club weekend, Helter Skelter draw crowds. Come and fill your ears with indie, brit pop and hip hop.
