Established in the year 1950 by the renowned botanist Willis Linn Jepson, the Jepson Herbarium is located on the University of California premises. The main aim of the center is to study and research about the local California plants. The staff at the Herbarium work day in and day out to make new studies about the plant species, this includes adding new information to the Jepson Manual. It also boasts as being one of the largest botanist centers in North America with a collection of over 2,200,000 specimens.
