Markoff's Haunted Forest is a horror themed adventure park, located on an eerie and isolated farm, outside of Poolesville and Dickerson. For all those who love to get their blood and adrenaline pumping and cannot resist a good scare, a trip to this haunted farm is a must. Walk down two trails, which meander through the dark forest and are riddled with jump scares and horrifying and disfigured creatures around every corner. While a visit here is not recommended to those below the age of 12, there are a couple of attractions which the younger patrons can choose to enjoy, like the creepy hayride, which goes through the forest and stops at an abandoned town, and a visit to the sinister fortune-teller. Adults can try the infamous Death Jump attraction and the zip-line which whizzes over-head through the dark. There are also a number of other things to enjoy here like bonfires and concession stands. A trip to the Haunted Forest is certain to thrilling and fun for all. They do not accept cards here so be sure to carry along enough cash to enjoy all the attractions.
Opened in 2011, Charles E. Miller Branch & Historical Center is an avant-garde book repository. A part of the Howard County Library System’s (HCLS), this beautiful, contemporary building with its pictorial artworks on the region's rural heritage and technologically advanced amenities is a blend of history and technology. The 72 solar panels and green roof make it energy efficient. Get a glimpse of the county's past at the Historical Center. The Enchanted Garden, a teaching garden on sustainable lifestyle is a great place to know about flowers, vegetables and herbs.
