"Tribute To a Meteorite."

The Monument to Lady-Whacking Meteorite is probably the first and the only monument to be built in tribute to a meteorite. This particular 8.5 pounds (4 kilograms) meteorite hit Sylacauga, and crashed through the house roof of Anne Hodge, who didn't suffer serious injuries. Since then Hodge became recognized as the first person who was literally hit by a meteorite. Sculpted by Don Lawler, a stone sculptor, the monument is made of marble and placed on a granite slab, with the words, 'Falling Star', written on it. Since then, it has garnered recognition and become a tourist spot in this city.
