"Historic Art Society"

The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists started off as a joint interest for art by its initial founding members in the year 1814. A building was constructed in the neoclassical style of architecture was built for the purpose of a gallery and an office for the society, by Thomas Rickman. Formerly known as the Birmingham Society of Artists, the society still runs today promoting talent among young people in the vicinity and organize workshops for families as well as students. It also has a permanent collection by famous artists from the earlier centuries.
