Quorn and Woodhouse railway station
"The Pride of the Great Central Railway"
Quorn & Woodhouse Station was started in 1899 to become a part of the Great Central Railway. It is one of the heritage railway stations preserved by the government. It is a two-sided island platform station with a small goods yard, a railway hotel and a manor. While in operations, it used to carry at least 300 passengers a day which included workmen, clerks, typists etc. It was popular for releasing racing pigeons brought in pigeon carriages, one of which has been preserved. During the world war ammunition was stored here in the bases. Due to this connection the station has been restored in a 1940's theme. You can also book a ride on the railway line starting from this station.
