Thornton Reservoir

A small yet full reservoir located in the National Forest near the village of Thornton, this was built in 1854 and was situated to the south of the current dam, and is now owned by Severn Trent. The reservoir and its surroundings have been open to the public since 1997 and have quite a few amenities attached. Whether you want to spend a relaxing day at the lake, or go fishing or just go for a walk, you can be sure that a day here will be well spent.
