"Grand Structure"

In order to commemorate the great Charles Darwin bicentenary in 2009, Quay Gardens in Shrewsbury unveiled the Quantum Leap. This is a special structure created in order to mark Darwin's ground-breaking scientific ideas and his impact on today's scientific world. Born in 1809, he interested himself in geology during his early childhood, and it celebrates this phase of his life which marked his interest and contributions in geological diversity. The sculpture is 12 meters (40 feet) high and 17.5 meters (57 feet) long.
