"Beautiful Steps Leading into the Parco della Montagnola"
Bologna's Parco Montagnola is located in Via Indipendenza. To enter the park you have to climb one of the two scenic flights of steps which were built at the end of the 19th century by the architects Tito Azzolini and Attilio Muggia. The sculptures and reliefs which decorate the stairs are taken from some historical stories of the city, and were sculpted by Ettore Sabbioni, Arturo Colombarini, Arturo Orsoni, and Pietro Veronesi. The beautiful fountain depicting the horse and virgin in the grasp of an octopus is by Diego Sarti.
