Teatro Ebe Stignani

One of the most prominent theaters in the city, Teatro Ebe Stignani has an equally interesting history. Erected on the remnants of a medieval church in the 19th Century, the ornate necoclassical theater by Giuseppe Magistretti features three tiers with boxes, pictorial decorations and frescoes. Due to the fear of the World War II, it closed down in 1931. It reopened only in 1974. The theater went through an extensive renovation for six years in the 2000s and opened to the public again in 2010. Since then it is the stage of operas, comedies, acrobatics, dance, dramas, musicals and more.
