"Views From A Harbor Island"
Far out in Boston Harbor, Lovell's Island has one of the nicest beaches around during the spring and summer months, as well as many beautifully landscaped hiking trails. The island was once home to Fort Standish, an important Union fort during the Civil War. Although reduced to ruins, you can still tour the remains. Access to the island is by private boat or by free water taxi from George's Island. Visitors can hike along the rocky shores, experience tidepooling in the shallows, or take a night stroll to soak in the wonderful nocturnal views.
