Copley Place

With 75 stores and restaurants to browse through, one can find just about everything within this multilevel complex. Neiman Marcus is a featured store with polite sales clerks who actually take your name and number if they are out of desired stock. There are Louis Vuitton, Armani, Christian Dior and Salvatore Ferragamo as well as the ever-familiar Burberry, Intimacy, Tiffany & Co. and Barneys New York.

Newbury Street

Any shopper will enjoy a stroll down this street, which features eight blocks of upscale boutiques, shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. On warm weekends, the sidewalks are teeming with window shoppers, street performers and overflowing outdoor cafes. Located in the historic Back Bay, much of the brownstone architecture is influenced by the Art Nouveau style of the 1920s. In addition, chic galleries and restaurants, such as Stephanie's on Newbury and Sonsie, attract a well-dressed, sophisticated crowd.

Shreve, Crump and Low

This jeweler, located near the Public Garden, opened in 1796 and is the oldest in the United States. Shreve, Crump and Low sells Rolex watches and other brand names, but is better known for unique items, many of which, surprisingly, are quite reasonably priced. Besides jewelry, the specialties are crystal, china and gifts. This flagship store also offers repairs and appraisals for jewelry and watches. There is another location at The Mall at Chestnut Hill, Newton.

Tiffany & Co.

This high-end jewelry and luxury gift store is internationally renowned. You will find beautiful engagement rings, wedding bands in gold and platinum, anniversary gifts destined for posterity and precious stones in any shape and size. Other items of note include crystal goblets, clocks, all the best silver, fantastic china goods and some of most incredible watches ever to grace a wrist.

Bodega

Bodega may be disguised as a corner store, but behind the window display of cleaning products and housewares lie some of the freshest clothing to be found in Boston. The shop prides themselves on a lack of a telephone, and brands cycle in as quickly as they leave. High quality street wear is the emphasis of Bodega's collection, sourcing brands from all over the world as long as they maintain the gritty modernity that set them apart to the curators. If you want to keep on the cutting edge of fashion while in Boston, stop in to Bodega.

The Red Wagon

Red Wagon is the place to go for a baby shower or child's birthday gift. No matter how big your gift, from barrette to layette, your purchase will be wrapped for you in recycled parcel paper and sweet raffia ribbon at no extra cost, which is a rarity these days. Choose from a selection of soft Angel Dear snuggle toys and rattles, or an array of educational toys for all ages including the popular Melissa and Doug line of puzzles and games. A vast selection of books includes all of the classics, such as Boston's own Make Way For Ducklings in addition to modern books for younger kids. The boutique is most renowned for its truly exquisite children's wardrobe of hand-selected local and international fashions. Colorful painted armoires and funky shelves house a large selection of clothing, from classic garments like Petit Bebe smock dresses to modern items like Little Marc Jacobs graphic tees. A plethora of roll neck sweaters include Red Sox and nautical themes by various designers (monogramming available). Other brands include Zulily, Charlie Rocket, Lulu, Catamini, Clayeux, Coccoli and Deux par Deux.
