Majors Creek

A former gold mining town, Major's Creek is easily accessible from nearby Braidwood. A civilized drive on sealed roads passes by the Anglican Church built in 1870, Clarke's Lookout with a stunning panorama of the Araluen Valley and a bridge over gentle Major's Creek, the town's namesake. A quiet town, this is the quintessential day trip from Canberra. A picnic by the waterfall or a wander through the historic streets of the town is a lovely way to spend that extra day. Take Araluen Road south out of Braidwood, then onto Major's Creek Road.
