"In the Belly of The Mountain"
Located inside the summit of the Wendelstein mountain is the extraordinary Wendelstein Cave. The Alpine cave is located at a height of about 1,700 meters and is accessible by air tramps and railroads. Since the cave is located in a fossil-rich region, the walls of the cave are all covered in fossils. 82 steps take one inside the cave after reaching the main entrance. Here, multimedia kiosks offer geological and biological information to the visitors. As you move further into the belly of the cave, the temperatures fall as low as three Degree Celsius (37 Degree Fahrenheit), hence warm clothing, as well as proper footwear, is a must while visiting Wendelstein Cave. The admission fee at the cave is not inclusive of the tickets for cable cars and railroads.
