Named after the famous Munich brewery, Paulaner has a typical Bavarian feel, and of course, plenty of Paulaner beer. The bright and spacious rooms are, nevertheless, decorated in such a way that you can still tell that you are in northern Germany. The daily specials with Bavarian, north German and southern European dishes (as well as a family menu on Sundays) complement the main menu, which offers a selection of hearty meals at reasonable prices. The 600-seat beer garden boasts great views of the River Weser and is the perfect place to relax when the weather is good.
Restaurant Übersee doesn't limit itself to any particular cuisine but rather is inspired by various food cultures from across the globe. Their inspired fare ensures that meals here are not mundane. From breakfast to lunch and dinner, their dishes are freshly prepared with a lot of care. Set inside Übersee-Museum Bremen, it is a lovely place for cocktails as well. They even have separate meals for kids. This restaurant also caters to large events.
If you're willing to venture a little ways outside the city center of Bremen, you'll be rewarded with a very special place called the Music Hall Worpswede. Located in the village of Worpswede, this music hall is collectively owned by nine members of the community with help from friends and neighbors. There is a separately owned bar inside called "Zur Kogge" where you can get some food or, of course, good beer. The crowd here is often over 35, but anyone ready for friendly conversation and atmosphere will enjoy themselves. Bands take to the stage at least once or twice a week, and on Thursdays anyone can join in for the acoustic jam sessions that begin at 20:00. Overall a very relaxed and welcoming place.
If you find yourself whistling a jig and wondering where to find a good old fashioned pub in Bremen, just look for the green facade with gold trimming and you will find Hegarty's. Hegarty's offers a cool traditional Irish atmosphere to drink a pint of beer. There are special Student nights during the week, live music on the weekends, and a quiz night in English every Monday. You can definitely tune in for the big soccer (football) game here. Saturdays are the biggest nights of the week, where this spacious club tends to get close to filling up, but usually there is plenty of room for a group to come here.
