Violent Green

Started in a box sized store, Violent Green has become one of the leading fashion stores in Australia with two outlets across major cities. The one in Brisbane has somewhat of a cult following with youngsters and working professionals who love the collection here. The place houses renowned local brands along with many reputed international brands as well. Since its beginning a few years ago, the store has come a long way in terms of fan following and a collection to die for.

Pulp Fiction

Genre fiction is much maligned by the literary elite, but there is no arguing with its popularity. Whether you would like to explore a hidden realm, visit a distant planet, or walk the mean streets in a trench coat, Pulp Fiction will more than accommodate for your needs with a wide range of fantasy, science fiction, crime and mystery books. While small, there is still plenty of space to browse through the countless titles, making exploring the store an adventure in itself. The helpful staff will happily order something in for you if it is not on the shelves.

Westfield Chermside

In 1957 the "Chermside Drive-in" was Australia's first shopping center and now, many developments later, is a spacious complex with 2,700 car spaces (1,000 under cover) and 140 specialty shops with Myer as the flagship. The colorful, newest development boasts a 16-cinema multiplexes, restaurants, a refurbished Myer, a 900-seat food court and more specialty stores. Supermarkets Coles and BiLo, Kmart and Target fulfill the quota offering the customer the lot!

Archives Fine Books

This bookshop has to be seen to be believed. Housed in two huge inner-city buildings, Archives is home to over one million antiquarian, collector and specialist books. What is even better is they only stock top quality books--no trashy book exchange stuff here. All sales assistants are extremely well read and possess the uncanny knack of being able to direct you to the exact book, on the exact shelf without having to leave the front counter to show you! Fine books are bought and traded without hesitation, and book searches and mail orders are no problem.

Southside Antique Centre

China, fine china and more china! At Southside Antique Centre, you will find 88 china cabinets to search through to find that special piece. Occasionally a display of kerosene lamps will break the line of cabinets, but for furniture, downstairs you go. This floor seems to specialize in bedroom dressing-tables, dressers and cupboards. Some are really good value Georgian pieces. The walls have many fine paintings and prints. A free valuation Sunday occurs frequently.

Fortitude Valley

Fortitude Valley can be found near the Brisbane central business district in Queensland’s capital city. It was named after the ship that brought in Scottish immigrants who laid routes in the area. With industrialization, as the city prospered, so did the valley. In the day, the streets are buzzing with shoppers at the ever popular retail shops. It is as busy in the nights with its clubs, bars and various events like the International Jazz Festival and the Valley Fiesta.
