The Cheddar Complex is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. Located around the Cheddar Gorge it lies in the north east of Mendip Hills' Charterhouse. Spanning across 441.3 hectares (1090.5 acres), the Cheddar Complex includes Cheddar Gorge, Longwood Swallet, Charterhouse, Cavern Charterhouse. Supporting diverse species of flora and fauna, the Cheddar Complex is house to some rare plants like Little Robin, Cheddar Pink, et al. The nature also encompasses a wide number of natural reserves, which are run by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. Geologically and biologically important, the Cheddar Complex is a widely studied natural wonder.
