The Tyndale Monument is a tower built in the honor of William Tyndale who is said to have been born in North Nibley. William Tyndale was the first person to have translated and printed the in English the New Testament and half of the Old Testament. His translations were picked word to word for King James' Bible. Copies of his translations were smuggled into England and he was termed as a heretic and burned outside Brussels in 1536. This tower, situated atop a hill, was erected in 1866 as an honor to his martyrdom. There is a spiral staircase inside the tower consisting of 120 steps that can be used to climb to the top. Great views of the River Severn and the nearby forests can be seen from the top.
