Seaton Tramway

Established in 1971 by Claude Lane, the Seaton Tramway has been providing thrills and delightful experiences to Devon's visitors for close to 50 years. Featuring a varied fleet of narrow gauge trams half the size of the trams found else where in country, the tramway runs through the Axe valley along the estuary between Seaton, Cloyford and Cloyton. With spectacular views of the natural surroundings and colonies of birds along the route, the tramway also organizes special events and activities such as the Halloween Tram of Terror, birdwatching trips, tram driving lessons and the annual Classic Car Show among many others. Sherborne Castle

The Sherborne Castle is a beautifully maintained castle that showcases rich interiors of the Bishop's family. Tour its symbolic halls and rooms to view varied antique collections of art, furnishings, porcelain amongst many others. Built in 1594 and constructed by Roger Bishop, it showcases beautifully landscaped gardens. Being a picture-perfect venue, it also makes as an excellent event space. Seaton Down

Seaton Down or Seaton Down Fort is a large Iron Age hill fort 125 meters (410 feet) above Sea Level. The imposing structure consists of a large defensive wall which is speculated to have been used as a fortification. The fort which rests on private land is bordered by two footpaths on each side from where the site can be easily seen.

Bakelite Museum

The Bakelite Museum is all about bakelite, the name of an early form of plastic created by chemist Leo Baekeland. The museum houses the personal vintage plastics collection of Patrick Cook, which is the largest in Britain. Items on display include anything with this vintage plastic, including radios, spy cameras, telephones, huge machines used for perming, and even a Bakelite coffin. An entire exhibition is also dedicated to Victorian plastics that existed before Bakelite. This museum is located within a former watermill and the structure still retains the old water wheel, which makes this a unique building to hold such a unique collection. There is also an onsite cafe and an exclusive postcard collection on sale.

Church of St Aldhelm and St Eadburgha

The Church of St Aldhelm and St Eadburgha, is a rare dedication to these saints and dates back to the 13th Century. Housed within are a number of fine artistic pieces including a perpendicular font and medieval stained glass windows. The stained, carved and colored pulpit was restored to its former glory after it was discovered under a layer of plaster. Although the church may appear cold and foreboding at times, with its square tower looming over the rest of the church, on the inside it is inviting and calm with numerous architectural details that keep your eyes busy.

Church of St Nicholas

Church of St Nicholas is a stunning Norman church in the town of Combe St. Nicholas. The first stage of the tower and the nave date back to the 13th Century while most of the rest of the building was added during the 15th Century. It is believed that a church existed at the site even before the Norman times. The font found within the nave is believed to date back to pre-norman times. This magnificent church is decked with a number of details and nuances that become obvious upon close inspection, such as the gargoyles which adorn the tower, and the 15th Century carvings on the rood screen. The hamstone walls enclose within it a sense of calm and serenity which soothes your soul. Visitors can join in the services if they wish to or engage in quiet prayer. Music is often incorporated the services and there is an active group of bell-ringers.
