1885 Brooksville Train Depot

The Brooksville Train Depot is housed in the Depot built in 1885 C.E. in Hernando County, and displays dioramas and artefacts about the railroad system. Visit the Museum to know about the various components, engines, and railroad tracks. Traverse through exhibits and photographs that tell you about the local history, wars, socio-economic development, and the culture of the region. There is a dock area where a restored fire engine has been displayed-you can sit and have some memorable pictures captured. There is more equipment from various occupations of the bygone era.

Withlacoochee State Forest

Located in Florida, Withlacoochee State Forest is one of the largest forests in the state. The forest gets its name from the Native American term for "crooked river", describing the eponymous river that flows through its lush green blankets. The forest comprises many different varieties of mature trees, including bald cypress, longleaf pine, oak, maple, and southern magnolia. Dade Battlefield Historic State Park

Dade Battlefield Historic State Park is an old battlefield where Seminole warriors fought soldiers under the command of Major Francis L. Dade on December 28, 1835. The total area of the park is 80 acres (32 hectares), almost half of which is covered by pine flatwoods and a live oak hammock. Visitors to the park have a wide range of choice of activities like picnicking, viewing exhibits at the visitors' center, and wildlife spotting. Dade Battlefield Historic State Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 14, 1972.

Fort Cooper State Park

The 710-acre (287 hectares) Fort Cooper State Park is home to the stunning Lake Holathlikaha. This popular park features several nature trails to explore the area’s rich flora and fauna. Some of these include Great Florida Birding Trail, Withlacoochee State Trail, and Seminole Heritage Trail. Water sports enthusiasts can indulge in various activities like paddle boating, canoeing, and kayaking by the lake. The park offers facilities for fishing, camping, and picnicking. Lake Holathlikaha

Nestled within the Fort Cooper State Park, Lake Holathlikaha encompasses an area of 160 acres (64.7 hectares). Located off the US Highway 41, this majestic lake is surrounded by lush green woodlands and wetlands. Amidst the Second Seminole War in 1836, many wounded soldiers were known to have rested along this lake’s shore. Visitors can indulge in a number of fun-filled activities like paddleboating, canoeing, swimming and fishing. Apart from these activities, visitors can also go hiking, picnicking or spend the night camping in the state park’s well-equipped campground.
