Le Moissonnier

A historical culinary establishment in France, Le Moissonnier is one of the finest French restaurants you can visit in Cologne. Serving patrons for more than 25 years, the restaurant boasts two Michelin stars. The interiors with mirror-clad walls, red leatherette seating, and the golden glow of simple ceiling lights will transport you to one of the cozy bistros on Parisian streets. The menu comprises French staples like foie gras and seafood delicacies ranging from oysters and scallops to tuna and mackerel. The wine list is impressive and you are bound to be spoiled for choice while getting just the right one for your meal. Le Moissonnier is a must-visit for an unforgettable French dining experience.

Miss Päpki

Miss Päpki, a cozy cafe, is the favorite tourist-haunt for sweet and savory snacks and desserts. Dig into homemade ice creams, beat the summer heat with a chilled milkshake or satiate your appetite with some salads, soups or light snacks; this charming cafe can cater to the food desires of one and all. Other decadent offerings include quality cheese and meats. Enjoy your meal in the snug indoor setting or take in the breeze at their outdoor patio. If you aren’t too hungry, go for one of their sumptuous coffees prepared from housemade blends. The delicious brews are not famous without a reason!

Früh am Dom

Located a stone's throw from the Dom and Hohe Straße, Früh am Dom is a real institution that attracts both tourists and locals alike. The Früh is to Cologne what the Hofbräuhaus is to Munich, in being that it is the preferred local brew. As well as serving up freshly-brewed Kölsch beer, there is a menu which contains a fine selection of local and German specialties on scrubbed wooden tables. If you are looking for a glass of tasty local beer and a fine traditional German meal, this place is a must for any visitor.

Peters Brauhaus

Peters Brauhaus has one of the best locations in Cologne's old town, in a side street just off Alter Markt. It's always full of people who find the building's beautiful façade irresistible as well as those simply looking for a great meal. This German brauhaus has a superb atmosphere, with an impressive stained glass ceiling in the main room and rustic wooden furniture throughout the restaurant. The friendly service is fast and the traditional German cuisine is delicious. This spot is also family-friendly and perfect for a large group of friends. Make sure to try the Kölsch, which is Cologne's local beer.

Café Reichard

Where can you get the best view of Cologne and enjoy a coffee? At Café Reichard. In summer you can sit under a large tree and enjoy the view of the cathedral square in front of the Kölner Dom! Simply Great! It may be a tourist trap, but elderly gentlemen love it, despite the high prices. After all, the good old days are much in evidence here, with traditional fräuleins in black dresses, white blouses and aprons, and little white socks. Some days they have violin music like in Vienna and for the colder months there's the winter garden. Younger customers tend to stay away, preferring the coffee at the trendier cafés, as they don't have to order a pot and because atmosphere here is rather low-key.
