With its 64 meters (210 feet) of height, the 'Book tower' of the University of Ghent towers high above the surrounding buildings. The library building was designed in art deco style by Henri Van de Velde and is made of concrete and glass. More than 3,000,000 books and magazines have been collected in this impressive 'tower of wisdom' since 1942.
