Habitations majeures de Victor Horta

"Architectural Gems by Victor Horta"

Curves, flourishes and the play with light are the typical design elements of art nouveau. The houses designed by Victor Horta are regarded as unparalleled pioneering works and precursors of this architectural style at the end of the 19th century. In 1893 the then 32-year old master builder designed the Hôtel Tassel, which made him famous overnight. Then followed the Hôtel Solvay, the Hôtel van Eetvelde and Horta's dwelling and studio house. In the year 2000 UNESCO declared these four buildings of Victor Horta's as World Cultural Heritage sites.
