Museo Evita

Since 2002, this museum offers a marvelous glimpse at the life of arguably the most remarkable woman in Argentinean history, Eva Duarte de Peron. Divided across thirteen exhibition rooms you'll find an amazing array of items that chronicle her journey from humble young actress to popular first lady committed to help the poor and destitute. Soothing ambient music and several interesting audiovisual displays (English subtitles are always available) help round out an enjoyable and inspirational experience. There is also a nice, comfy resto-bar inside the premises. Guided tours in English are available and highly recommended.

Museo de la Pasion Boquense

The Museo de la Pasion Boquense (Boca's Passion Museum) is in the Boca Juniors stadium and it is a must see if you visit this part of the city of Buenos Aires. First will have the area with best players that have played with the Club. The list is impressive and full of world figures, but obviously the most important one there is Diego Armando Maradona, born and raised with Boca, considered the best player ever in Argentina. After that you will find a section with a brief review of this Barrio's history, which is a bit similar to Brooklyn, largely populated with Italians and a strong sense of family tradition. On the second floor you will find the best goals scored by the team, as you can imagine, spanning 105 years of history and with the kind of players that have played with the team… you just can't miss this part! The Museum also offers a number of activities. You can either take the Stadium Tour + Museum Tour. Or, you can take the Barrio Tour + Match Day Game. The last one is very interesting.

Xul Solar Museum

The museum and headquarters of the Pan Club Foundation is what used to be the residence of the late Xul Solar. It houses a permanent exposition of much of his works. The building's architectural layout is outstanding; it was especially designed by Architect Pablo Beitía with the aim of displaying the artist's work. The uneven back yard coincides with the house's old garden, while the interior communicates with the terrace and with the second floor, where Xul used to live. The simple furniture was designed by the artist himself. There is also a piano, some puppets, and an enormous library. Xul Solar developed a versatile, eccentric personality, of great genius. This personality led him to perform on many disciplines: inventions, chess, astrologically-based tarot, a fuller-sounding piano with 3 rows of textured keys for people with sight impediments, architectural ideas in urbanism and landscaping, and even linguistics by creating the "neocriollo": a humorous mixture of Spanish and Portuguese. He attempted to found pan-universalism as a base in which people of every nation and religion could meet. His greatest achievement was in painting. In this field he is renowned as predecessor in surrealism in a Latin American reality. With his small, colorful watercolours he uncovered a mysterious world of symbols (represented, for example, by arrows and stairs) and unveiled the path of surreal culture.

Bernardino Rivadavia Natural Sciences Museum

Located in the residential and prosperous barrio of Caballito, the Argentinean Museum of Natural Sciences is the country's largest natural history collection. The museum combines traditional and modern exhibits, ranging from large-scale skeletal remains to giant sharks hanging in fluorescent-painted rooms. The museums' permanent exhibition includes rooms devoted to a wide range of topics, from botany and geology to paleontology and zoology. The reconstruction of ancient Patagonian dinosaurs, the biggest and best maintained of its kind in South America, deserves special praise. The richly populated tropical aquarium is also worthy of a detailed tour.

Faena Arts Center

History, heritage, culture, and art come together at Faena Arts Center. This excellently equipped venue is housed inside a historic building, a former mill, which has been transformed to present this technologically modern venue in the Puerto Madero area of the city. Spread over two floors, the center offers its spaces for a variety of events.

Foto Ruta

This isn't your ordinary touristic city excursion: Foto-Ruta, an interactive photography tour, brings Buenos Aires to life in a very unique way. Professional Canadian photographer Jocelyn Mandryk and British photography lover Becky Hayes created this tour as a way for both foreigners and locals to experience the city on an intimate and artistic level. Discovering a new neighborhood each week, tour goers undergo a brief orientation, covering the basics in street photography techniques, before they are sent out into the field. Camera in hand, whether it's a professional, amateur or iPhone, and guided by a set of clues and a map, participants embark on a self-guided exploration of Buenos Aires to capture their own interpretations of the city. - Alexandra Lazar
